RIMCO generally abbreviated as Resource Improvement and Manufacturing Company Limited, also engages in Mining activities of such soild minerals as Barites, Lead and Zinc within and around Tourkula in Benue State. RIMCO has six cadastral mining slots, within the Tourkula environs and is exploring the mining of lead around Abakaliki in Ebonyyi State. RIMCO believes strongly in research and development as this constitutes the main pivot for sustaining the high level market acceptance her products have enjoyed over the years. Between 1999 and 2008, RIMCO committed about N100 million to research and development. Mining is a growing part of the Chicason Group. In Nigeria through its wholly owned subsidiaries: the group holds 34 barite mining concessions in three States and a quarry site in Abuja is being established to produce some 300 tons an hour of aggregates from gneiss. Our barite processing complex is being prepared for commissioning and is located some 22 kilometres from the revitalised railway centre of Makurdi. Bulk sampling in the environs of Osina is underway with modern excavating equipment. We are in the midst of a regional and local prospecting campaign employing remote sensing and electrical resistivity to increase our barite reserves. We are well placed to advance our country’s industrialisation drive. We seek opportunities in industrial minerals, dimension stone and heavy minerals to apply our technical and financial skills. Further afield in West Africa the group has 9 exploration licenses in Sierra Leone. This ground shows promise of iron, gold or diamond mineralisation. During 2014 a core drilling rig was moved inland and our field geologists are in the initial phase of reconnaissance mapping. Throughout West Africa we are also seeking opportunities in heavy minerals, precious metals and gemstones.
